Ruan + Inge Radyn got married in the lovely forest of Beloftebos, Stanford. Their specific day was captured by the talented Sybrand Cillié. This Woodland wedding had plenty of DIY projects from the invites to the décor.
“I’ve often dreamt of a fairytale wedding, a day exactly where every thing would look magical and attainable. Both Ruan + I love nature and felt that if we genuinely wanted to produce a beautiful day, creation would play a huge part. Soon after all, absolutely nothing can compete with the beauty of tall trees, sunlight dancing by way of the branches that appears to go up all the way to heaven and a soft wind that blows by way of the leaves. When we saw the forest at Beloftebos we new that this would be the location where we would make our lifetime promise. I build my colour scheme around colours that one would find in the forest, a soft olive green and a nice ‘berry’ purple. The nude champagne colour which reminded me of a fairy’s dress. Over all I would say our theme was a whimsical forest celebration!”
There have been many DIY projects portion of this wedding that integrated: For the invites there have been hand-made little wooden storybooks with a poem invitation inside. For the seating charts old planks were painted with the table names and guest lists. These have been hung on the trees in the forest and every guest had to search for their name. In addition hand-painted wooden signs adorned the forest with sayings such as “will we be friends forever, asked Piglet, even longer answered Pooh”.
For the décor they utilised bottles painted on the inside for the flowers. There were hand-created fire fly jars that contained battery-driven fairy lights and moss for the bridesmaids to carry. And then there were lots and lots of hand-reduce paper butterflies and off course bunting.
Do you have any suggestions for brides-to-be?
Attempt to not do everything your self, that’s what we did at our wedding… from flowers to the cake, to the invitations to the décor….even even though it looked lovely I nonetheless feel that if I left some factors for other folks to do the complete journey would have been much less stressful.
